Combating the high cost of prescription drugs

By Michael Thompson posted 10-09-2019 01:27 PM

One in four Americans has trouble paying for prescription drugs. That’s why The National Alliance is pleased to join Employers’ Prescription for Affordable Drugs (EmployersRx), a coalition uniting employers to advocate for policies that will address one of our nation’s biggest health care challenges—the high cost of prescription drugs.

Built on the tenets of transparency, competition and value, Employers’ Prescription for Affordable Drugs supports public policies that drive down the cost of drugs as part of a value-based health care system. The National Alliance joins the Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH) and the ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) as founding members of EmployersRx.

“Prescription drug costs have reached a boiling point and Congress has been presented with several viable solutions—the real danger Congress must avoid is doing nothing,” said Michael Thompson, National Alliance president and CEO. “EmployersRx is action-oriented and committed to empowering employers with the latest policy briefs, training and support.”
