As Director of Programs for the Northeast Business Group on Health since 1997, I manage the content and delivery of educational programs that we provide to our members who are largely national employers headquartered in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts. One of the highlights of my position is having the opportunity follow the evolution of the employer/purchaser role in healthcare and how it has influenced the transformation of the delivery system as it moves to a more value-based system of care. I also get to work closely with a variety of healthcare stakeholders to gain an understanding of the most critical issues facing employers in an effort to provide current, relevant and conveniently scheduled programs to the business community. The programs I produce cover such topics as health care reform, managing the cost and health outcomes through best practices health benefit strategy, employee wellness and wellbeing, employee engagement, purchaser role in driving improvements in health care, employers’ provider strategies and value-based purchasing.
Northeast Business Group on Health (NEBGH), a 190 member business coalition representing over 1 million covered lives, committed to market-based health care reform, quality improvement and value-based purchasing. NEBGH also provides the employer’s perspective on current health care issues to legislators and healthcare organizations.
