In early May, the results of an important National Hospital Price Transparency study, conducted by RAND Corporation, was released and found the prices paid to hospitals for privately insured patients averaged 241% of what Medicare would have paid, with wide variation in prices among states and hospitals within states. The goal of the 3.0 study is to ideally blanket the US with the hospitals that are relevant to participating employers and other purchasers.
